Equipment spotlight: Flashlight

It seems so simple, but every good paranormal investigating kit needs to include a flashlight.  Not only will you need to it walk around if you decide to move rooms (or to leave at the end of a session), but it's also a very simple tool for a spirit to talk to you.

It doesn't really matter what kind of flashlight you get.  As long as it's pretty simple to use, such as a push button or a twist on/off flashlight, then it'll work.  A crank-powered or shake-powered light may not be the best kind to use.  One of the theories of paranormal is that it takes a lot for them to be able to use power, so as simple as possible is best. Keep in mind though that spirits have been known to drain batteries, so keep spares on hand.  Also understand that if you buy cheap flashlights, they tend to give "false positives."  We had flashlights randomly turn off and on, so don't assume that a spirit is controlling it.

However, if you ask a few yes and no questions and it seems pretty consistent, chances are you've got paranormal activity.  Never assume, always debunk, and err on the side of caution.
